Questions about the Feral Warriors

How many books will there be in the Feral Warriors series?

I’m not sure. I know how the series ends, but I’m not sure how many books it will take to get there. Every time I dig into the story, I discover something new.

Will each of the Feral Warriors get his own book?

No, not all. But there will be at least nine Feral Warriors books, and probably quite a few more. (If you’re just getting started on the series, this answer may not make a lot of sense. Keep reading!)

Why is there a cougar on the cover of Tighe’s book?

Obsession UntamedUhn. Good question and I honestly don’t know. What I can tell you is that authors have very little to do with their book covers. Originally, my publisher wasn’t going to put animals on the covers of my books. At the last minute, they changed their minds. I’m not sure, but I suspect someone pointed to Obsession Untamed and said, “I think that one’s about the cougar.” Nope, it was about the tiger.

Will Julianne and Zeeland from Hearts Untamed show up in the series?

Yes, they will. Stay tuned!

Should these books be read in order or are they stand alones?

Ideally, the books should be read in the order in which they were published. Although each book centers around a different couple, and I work to make sure someone picking up a book mid-series won’t be lost, the external story progresses from book to book.

What is the right reading order and when should I read the novella in Bitten By Cupid?

Bitten by CupidI recommend reading the stories in the order in which they were published:

Desire Untamed
Obsession Untamed
Passion Untamed
Hearts Untamed (in the Bitten by Cupid anthology)
Rapture Untamed
Hunger Untamed
Ecstasy Untamed

Every Radiant has a mate chosen for her. Who was the mate of the previous Radiant, Beatrice?

Wulfe was Beatrice’s mate.

Hunger UntamedHow did Wulfe get his scars?

I’m afraid you’ll have to wait for Wulfe’s book to get the full story, but you’ll find out a little bit in Kougar’s book, Hunger Untamed.

Questions about Writing

Where do you get your ideas? What inspires you?

Honestly, everything inspires me. Movies, books, people I know, places I visit. But my greatest inspiration comes from the simple question “What if?” “What if that plane over my house disappeared while I was watching it? What if I woke up one morning with the ability to read minds?”

Do you follow a strict writing schedule or do you follow the muse?

I definitely need structure and deadlines to produce in a timely matter, but I’ve experimented over the years with what that means. I used to try to structure my days, but I’m not a natural multi-tasker and it never worked well for me. If I’m working on the book, I want to be working on the book. Nothing else. So now I structure my weeks. Five or six days a week I concentrate on the writing, depending on how close I am to deadline. I’ve dubbed Thursday my To-Do List day when I write blogs, work on website updates, run errands, etc. Saturday is my day off when I can afford it.

What advice would you give an aspiring author?

First and foremost, write. Attend writing workshops, read how-tos (the library and bookstores are full of them) and study the authors you love. Above all, don’t give up. Getting published takes skill, hard work, luck, and perseverance, but I’m convinced it’s the perseverance that makes the most difference. Without it, the others might not ever get the chance to matter.

Questions about Everything Else

Do you pick your covers?

My editors ask for my input before they go to cover conference. I’m free to suggest titles, cover looks, and give them the important details such as hair color and distinguishing characteristics. But...what I send are only used as suggestions. The editorial, marketing, and art departments make all the decisions.

Who is the model on the cover of your book?

For the most part, I don’t know. But I have discovered (from readers) that Paul Marron is the cover model for three of my Feral Warriors books (Desire Untamed, Hunger Untamed, and Ecstasy Untamed). Other than him, I don’t have a clue. When it comes to the covers, I’m only involved to the extent that I send in hair color suggestions, etc. The publisher’s art department does the rest. They find the models, do the cover shoot, create the cover. One day I would love to attend a cover shoot!

Have you always been intrigued by the paranormal?

From the moment I saw my first Star Trek episode at age ten, then discovered C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia and Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings a few years later. As I got older, I continued to enjoy paranormal movies and television when I could find them, but I wanted more romance in my books than the sci-fi/fantasy writers provided. I’m absolutely loving the rise in popularity of the paranormal romances. The marriage of my two favorite genres.
